Get Ready to Fish. Lake O’ the Pines Fishing Report, September 2020

Lake O’ the Pines Fishing Report, September 14, 2020

The lake is at normal elevation and the water temperature is starting to decrease.  As Fall approaches all species of fish are starting to bite aggressively in preparation for winter. Now is the time to fish Lake O’ the Pines.

Crappie Fishing Report

Crappie fishing has been fair to good with fish suspended from 8 to 18 feet in 25 feet of water.  The water Lake O' the Pines Fishing Report 9 2020temperature has dropped around 5 degrees over the past 2 weeks with the cooler weather. As of yesterday I started picking up Crappie on the Corps of Engineers Brush piles. This is the beginning of the fall feeding frenzy and Crappie fishing should be good until the fish move to the deep water for the winter. The Crappie are moving to deeper water during the day but can be found on brush piles in the morning and the evening. I have not fished the bridges as of yet, but I suspect the crappie will show up there pretty quickly. I did a video on fall Crappie fishing in 2018 and you can see it here.

This year I have had the most luck on  Bobby Garland Monkey Milk or Blue Ice with a white or chartreuse head. Yesterday I fished Blue Ice and they were thumping it hard. Stay tuned for more Lake O’ the Pines Fishing Report.

Bass Fishing Report

I have been catching 10 to 40 fish every evening. It is obvious these fish are fattening up for winter. Most fish are being caught where the wind blows the baitfish into shallow water. This condenses the fish into smaller areas and it is easy to catch a lot of fish. I have had great success using shad colored rattletraps and a Yozuri Shad shallow diver.

Catfish Fishing Report

I have no direct reports for catfish at this time, however they are really easy to catch on Lake O’ the Pines
