Crappie Fishing Report Lake O’ the Pines

I have not fished but have had conversations with several fisherman as they come off of the lake. The Crappie are Lake O the Pines Crappie Fishing Reportmoving into 20 to 30 feet of water. The bite this week has been fair to slow but fish are being caught. With the water temperature in the mid 50, the Crappie have not moved into the deep water yet. Most fisherman are reporting catching fish between 20 and 28 feet on the flats surrounding the deep water or in 25 feet of water just off of the creek channels. Johnson Creek and Hurricane Creek have quite a few boats every day.  Continued cold weather should further decrease the water temperature. Fish will move into the deeper water, 30 to 40 feet, and suspend until it warms up in the spring. I have found that once the water is 49 or less the deep water is the most productive. Fish are being caught on minnows and jigs. Cajun Cricket is producing well. Some fisherman have been catching a few Crappie in the standing timber just off of Johnson Creek.

Remember that you MUST KEEP ALL CRAPPIE REGARDLESS OF SIZE during December, January and February. The limit is 25 per day. Stay tuned for more Lake O’ the Pines Fishing Report.
