Big Fall Crappie on Lake O’ the Pines.

In the last  Lake O’ the Pines Fishing Report ,  we reported that good numbers of fish were being caught in 12 to 15 feet of water. Since that report, Lake O’ the Pines water level has risen and, due to cold nights, has cooled off. The latest reports from local Crappie fisherman indicates that a lot of fish are being caught at 19 feet in 20 to 25 feet of water off of points and on the creek and river channels. One fisherman reported that his boat caught 36 fish in one outing. I personally fished last weekend and saw numerous fish caught off of the points. I caught fish at 19 feet  in 22 to 25 feet of water. (see map point 2). As the water temperature drops to the upper 40’s to low 50’s the crappie should move to the deeper water.

Bass Fishing Report

There have been quite a few fishing tournament on Lake O’ the Pines. Most of the Bass are being caught on spinner baits and crank baits with some fish being caught on Texas rigged creature baits. I have had some success catching Bass on a white spinner bait in shallow water in the evening. There are still large amounts of bait fish schooling in the lake. My Lowrance 9Ti shows several fish working the schools.
